Birgunj: Demonstration has taken place in Birgunj today demanding immediate construction of Narayani Hospital in Birgunj as a public hospital.
Leaders and cadres of the newly formed Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) staged a protest on Thursday at Chhapkaiya Road in Birgunj to make Narayani Hospital in Birgunj a public hospital.
The locals protested while maintaining social distance. All other treatment services have been suspended at Narayani Hospital, which has been announced by the government for Kobid 19 Hospital.
The government has declared Narayani Hospital as Kobid 19 Hospital and directed to treat patients at the National Medical College in Birgunj at government fee. However, Janata Samajwadi Party leader Rajeshman Singh said that they had staged a protest demanding to make Narayani Hospital a general hospital again as there were complaints that the National Medical College was charging high fees.
As the Birgunj Municipal Corporation has already taken Gandak Hospital for Kobid 19 Hospital, their demand is to make Narayani Hospital a general hospital by transferring the four infected people there, said Singh.
The demonstration led by Janata Samajwadi Party leader Liaquat Ali was attended by leaders including Salauddin Mansuri, Ward Chairman of Ward No. 3 Baijulal Swarnakar and locals.
