A clash broke out between the two sides on Saturday night when police informed that some tribesmen had come to the mosque at Maujetol in Bishrampur, Ward No. 9 of Bahudaramai Municipality, Parsa. At least a dozen people from both sides have been injured in clashes between Muslims and Hindus in Maujetol.
Eight of them have been admitted to various hospitals in Birgunj as their condition is critical. The injured have been identified as Fayyad Dewan, Fatima Khatun, Makhmul Rai Bhat and Badia Rai Bhat, Chandan Gupta Kalwar, Sunil Gupta Kalwar, Radheshyam Gupta and Sushila Devi.
According to the police, another person, Fakruddin Ahmed Dewan, led by Wadasadya, attacked the house of a local with stones and bricks from a mosque in Maujetol on Saturday evening.
Ward Chairman Ravi Gupta said that the clash erupted when the locals started throwing stones and bricks from the mosque and the houses of the Muslims around the mosque.
Chandan Gupta, who was injured in the clash and is undergoing treatment at the National Medical College, said, “The clash took place after they started throwing stones at the outsiders who had been staying in the mosque for some time.”
Police have arrested two persons including locals Nasurlah Miah and Raju Gupta for questioning on the charge of being involved in the clash. “We have arrested two persons,” said Ganga Pant, Superintendent of Police, Parsa.
