Kathmandu : Due to Covid 19, tourism activity has dropped to zero. According to Yogesh Bhattarai, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, about 900,000 tourism workers will be affected due to KOVID-19.

Minister Bhattarai made the remarks during a meeting with officials of the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAN) and Nepal Taking Travel Travel Rafting Airlines Culture Archaeological Cargo Courier Workers Union (UNITRA) on Tuesday. According to Tourism Minister Bhattarai, it is estimated that there are about 8.9 million direct jobs in the tourism sector alone, including millions of families.

According to him, homework is being done to provide relief to the workers on the guarantee of the government or the concerned company. Minister Bhattarai informed that homework has been started for alternative employment so that the workers involved in tourism can go to hydro power, road construction, airport construction, Everest sanitation, heritage sanitation etc. He informed that an exercise is being conducted on how to provide financial assistance to the entrepreneurs.

Minister Bhattarai said that the government would bring concrete programs through next year’s policies, programs and budget to revive the impact of Corona Virus 9 Covid (190) on the tourism sector. The livelihood of workers and employees can be secured He said.

Stating that the first target would be the tourism sector due to various ups and downs including the outbreak, he said that the government was doing its homework on how to revive the tourism sector which has a large share of the population. The government estimates that there is more than Rs 1.595 trillion investment in Nepal’s tourism sector.
